Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger gets deal through 2032

Mandatory Credit: Reese Strickland-Imagn Images Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger agreed to a deal through the 2031-32 season, the school announced Tuesday.
The third-ranked Cyclones are 9-1 this season after reaching the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last season for the second time in his three full seasons.
"My family and I love Iowa State University, and the community, and are happy to continue calling it home," Otzelberger said in the news release. "Our fan base is second-to-none and we value their continued support as we continue this journey together."
Otzelberger, 47, has a 79-36 record with the Cyclones.
Otzelberger was head coach for South Dakota State for three seasons and UNLV for two before taking the Iowa State job prior to the 2021-22 season.
Iowa State went 22-13 and reached the Sweet 16 in his first season and then went 19-14 with a first-round NCAA setback the following campaign. Last season, the Cyclones went 29-8 while posting the second-most victories in school history. Iowa State loss to Illinois in the Sweet 16.
"The complete reimagining of our program under Coach Otzelberger's leadership is a testament to his vision and the plan that he and his staff have successfully implemented," Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard said in a statement. "His continued emphasis on the program's daily habits has not only reshaped our program but has allowed the Cyclones to quickly pull off one of the greatest turnarounds in college basketball history."
Otzelberger has an overall record of 178-99. He also took South Dakota State to the NCAA Tournament on two occasions (2017-18) behind star Mike Daum.
The Cyclones host Morgan State on Sunday.
